The German Cultural Foundation of the Rocky Mountains and the German American Chamber of Commerce–Colorado Chapter present the 13th annual Denver Christkindl Market. It will take place downtown at Skyline Park. This centuries-old traditional Christmas market will feature vendors selling high-quality gift items; German-style beer and warm Glühwein; food, including bratwurst, potato pancakes, goulash and apple strudel; and entertainment, featuring community and high school groups singers and performers.
2-7: Pig's Ear Beer & Cider Festival, London, England
The East London & City Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale presents the 31st Pig's Ear Beer & Cider Festival, which will take place at the Round Chapel in Hackney, London E5. This event, which has been expanded to six days, will feature more than 250 domestic and foreign beers, including cask-conditioned ales, beer from new breweries in Hackney and the rest of London, and more than 30 ciders.
3-6: Harwich & Dovercourt Winter Ale Festival, Dovercourt, England
The Tendring Branch of the Campaign for Real Ale presents the 13th annual Harwich & Dovercourt Winter Ale Festival, which will take place at the Kingsway Hall in Dovercourt. This four-day event will feature more than 50 Real Ales, along with a selection of ciders and bottled continental beers. There will be live music, and food will be available for purchase.
3-7: Portland Holiday Ale Festival
The 19th annual Portland Holiday Ale Festival will be held at Pioneer Square in downtown Portland. This five-day celebration will feature 53 strong ales, along with another two dozen rare, vintage, and specialty beers that will be tapped at various times throughout the event. The venue itself is heated, and contains the region’s largest decorated Christmas tree. There will also be meet-the-brewer events, beer pairings with cheese, food and merchandise vendors, and a root beer garden. VIP tickets, with express entry and a special selection of ales, are available.
6: Smugglers' Notch Brewfest, Part 1, Jeffersonville, VT
Smugglers' Notch, a ski resort in Jeffersonville, will host Part 1 of its 20th annual Brewfest. This evening event, to be held in the Meeting House, will feature local and regional beers and ciders, appetizers from the resort's Mountain Grille, and a DJ.
6: 12 South Winter Warmer, Nashville, TN
Rhizome Productions presents the fourth annual 12 South Winter Warmer, which organizers describe as "Nashville's first and only winter beer festival." This tented afternoon event will take place at Sevier Park. There will be beer from more than 25 breweries, including at least ten breweries from Tennessee; and some of the beers will be hard to find. There will also be live music and food from local restaurants. This year’s festival charity is the Oasis Bike Workshop.
6: Valley Forge Beer Festival, Oaks, PA
Starfish Junction and BeerHeads.com present the fourth annual Valley Forge Beer Festival, which will take place at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks. There will be afternoon and evening tasting sessions, each with more than 100 beers from 50 local, national, and foreign breweries. In addition, there will be an educational program, and food will be available for purchase. The festival charity is the Committee to Benefit the Children.
5-6: Washington Brewers Guild Winter Beer Festival, Seattle, WA
The Washington Brewers Guild presents the 2014 Winter Beer Festival, which will take place in Hangar 30 at Magnuson Park in Seattle. This two-day, three-session event will feature winter seasonals, including barrel-aged selections, from more than 45 Washington breweries.
12-14: Vancouver Winter Brewfest, Vancouver, WA
Energy Events presents the third annual Vancouver Winter Brewfest, which will take place at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver. This three-day event, to be held under heated tents, will feature beer from more than 35 breweries, including winter seasonals and Belgian beers. Food and craft vendors will be on hand. All-session VIP tickets, with a special selection of beers and complimentary food, are available. This year’s festival charity is the Vancouver Farmers Market.
13: Great St. Louis Czech Beer Festival, St. Louis, MO
The 2014 Great St. Louis Czech Beer Festival will be held at The American Czech Educational Center. This afternoon event will feature beer from Schlafly, Urban Chestnut, Morgan Street, Square On, and many other St. Louis-area breweries. Festival-goers are invited to vote for the Pivo of the Year. There will also be live music, and food will be available for purchase.
13: Haddenham Winter Real Ale Festival, Haddenham, England
The winter 2014 Haddenham Real Ale Festival will be held at the Village Hall complex in Haddenham. This afternoon event, which is a fund-raiser for charity, will feature a selection of Real Ales, ciders, and mulled wines. There will also be live music and dancing, food for purchase, and stalls selling Christmas gifts.
13: Hibrewnation Festival of Beer, Harrisburg, PA
The 2014 Harrisburg edition of the Hibrewnation Festival of Beer will be held at the Main Hall-Farmshow. This afternoon event will feature more than 80 beers and liquors. There will also be a beer education program, and food will be available for purchase. VIP tickets, with early admission and a special selection of beers, are available.
13: Holiday in the Park, Galveston, TX
Holiday in the Park 2014 will take place at Saengerfest Park (23rd and Strand) in Galveston. This two-day event will feature beverage and food vendors, performances by local and area choirs, and Santa in the Park for family pictures.
20-21:Kerstbierfestival, Essen, Belgium
The Objective Beer Tasters of the Essen Region present the 2014 Kerstbierfestival, which will take place at Heuvelhal in Essen. The festival's name, in English, is "Christmas Beer Festival." This two-day event will feature more than 150 Belgian Christmas and winter beers, including 18 to 20 on draft, along with hot Gluhkriek, soup, beef stew, and bread prepared with Christmas beer.
31: Brew Year’s Eve, Chicago, IL
Lou Dog Events presents the inaugural Brew Year’s Eve, which will take place at the historic Salvage One building in Chicago. This evening event, to be spread over three floors, will feature more than 30 craft beers from ten Chicagoland breweries. There will also be live music, butler-passed hors d’oeuvres, a dessert buffet, and photo ops. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Grant Park Conservancy.
